Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, November 6-10, 2024 at Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Lewes, DE (behind the Wawa.) The award-winning Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival returns to celebrate its 26th Anniversary and continues to be one of the longest running independent film festivals in the United States. Film Screening: Is There Anybody Out There? September 16. Rehoboth Art League (12 Dodds Lane, Rehoboth Beach). The Rehoboth Art League partners with Film East to host a unique film event that highlights activism in the arts. Filmmaker Ella Glendining was born with a rare disability meaning she has short legs and uses a wheelchair. Having never encountered anyone else with this same disability, she went on a journey to ask "Is there anybody out there like me?" This event will include a post-screening Q&A with a local disability activist. Click here for info.
40th Annual Holiday Fair Fine Craft Show, November 2 & 3 (Preview Night: Friday, November 1,) Rehoboth Art League (12 Dodds Lane, Rehoboth Beach.) Will feature a variety of artisans exhibiting and selling their work, including jewelry, glasswork, ceramics, mixed media, and decorative and wearable fiber creations. Galvin Cello Quartet: October 5, 2024, 7 p.m, Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes. Composed of members from China, Brazil, South Korea, and the United States, the Galvin Cello Quartet burst onto the scene after capturing the Silver Medal at the 2021 Fischoff Competition, followed by winning the 2022 Concert Artists Guild.
Curtis on Tour: November 9, 2024, 2 p.m. Erinys Quartet with Violist Roberto Diaz and Cellist Peter Wiley , Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes. Named for the Erinyes (a.k.a. the Furies) from the Greek tragedy Oresteia by Aeschylus, and with roots in Estonia, Lithuania, Greece, the United States, and Finland, the Erinys Quartet was founded in 2018 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where they worked closely with cellist Marko Ylönen. Since the autumn of 2023, the Erinys Quartet has been the Nina von Maltzahn String Quartet-in-Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music.
